Our comprehensive blood panel assesses over 100 markers associated with metabolism, energy, inflammation, cognitive function, anxiety, and sexual wellness. Add on a fertility blood marker analysis.
    Hormone Testing
The biomarkers evaluate hormone levels in the body and detect potential imbalances that cause weight gain, fatigue, mood swings, and low sex drive.
43% of patients discover a hormone imbalance during their assessment.
    Metabolic & Weight Function
Understand the underlying causes of weight challenges and their connection with hormones.
We use your biomarkers and BMI to determine if you qualify for our Weight Loss Program, which includes a personalized GLP-1 prescription, and we collaborate with you to help you reach your weight loss targets.
    Immune Regulation
Our assessment analyzes key biomarkers involved in immune system activity to identify dysregulation that may contribute to inflammation, increased infection risk, and delayed recovery.

    Common Questions

How does Modern Age work with insurance?
At Modern Age, we operate on a membership model that allows us to provide deeply personalized, proactive care. Our membership fee is not covered by insurance, but it includes all in-office visits, virtual consultations, messaging with your care team, and ongoing coordination with specialists. You'll never receive a surprise bill or copay for services provided directly by Modern Age.
We’ve chosen to operate outside of traditional insurance networks to break away from the limitations and misaligned incentives of fee-for-service healthcare. Insurance typically reimburses providers based on the quantity—not the quality—of care delivered. This leads to rushed visits, fragmented care, and minimal focus on prevention. By remaining out-of-network, we’re able to offer longer appointments, comprehensive care plans, and a truly collaborative team-based approach that puts your long-term health first.
That said, we still work alongside your existing insurance coverage to help you make the most of it:
  • Lab tests are routed through in-network labs whenever possible

  • We refer you to specialists who accept your insurance

  • We help coordinate preventive screenings that may be covered by your plan

  • What about HMO plans?
If you have an HMO plan, your insurance may require that orders and referrals come from an in-network provider. Since Modern Age is out-of-network, we are unable to place those orders directly. However, we are happy to coordinate your care alongside an in-network physician who can provide referrals and orders. If you're unsure about your plan’s requirements, we recommend calling your insurance provider for clarification.
Do I need to have health insurance while being a member?
Yes, we strongly recommend maintaining health insurance to cover services outside of your membership—such as labs, prescriptions, imaging, and emergency care. Many of our members choose a high-deductible, low-premium plan so they can invest more in preventive primary care through Modern Age.
These types of plans often come with an HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account), which you may be able to use toward your membership fee. We recommend checking with your HSA/FSA administrator or tax advisor to confirm eligibility.
Are lab test costs included in the membership?
Your membership gives you access to our curated biomarker panels, along with 1-hour results review session with a Clinician. However, the lab tests themselves are billed separately and typically routed through your insurance using in-network labs. Your copay or out-of-pocket cost will depend on your specific insurance plan and deductible.
Why might I be responsible for lab costs?
Insurance carriers often limit coverage for preventive lab testing, especially if no diagnostic code is used. In those cases, the test may be labeled as "not medically necessary" and you could be responsible for part or all of the cost.
To help with this, we review your medical history and intake form thoroughly to provide documentation that supports medical necessity when appropriate. You’ll also have the option to opt into or out of specific tests during your intake process.
How were the tests in the aging wellness assessment selected?
Our doctors across multiple specialties, including our Chief Medical Officer Anant Vinjamoori, MD have determined  the correct comprehensive set of  lab tests that should ideally be routinely done and help provide cross-speciality insights. This gets us one step closer to determining the root cause of a particular symptom.
What biomarkers are tested during the blood panel?
Our Aging Wellness Assessment provides a 360 view of how your body is aging, including an in-depth review of over 100 biomarkers associated with metabolism, energy, inflammation, cognitive function, anxiety, bone density, and sexual wellness. Your Modern Age clinician can walk you through each marker.

  • Can the aging wellness assessment help me detect early indicators of disease?
Many of the most common diseases are caused by the aging process. The markers we’ve chosen help detect early disease risks related to the body’s aging process. Here are some diseases where we can capture early risk factors:
  • Diabetes

  • Metabolic Syndrome

  • Obesity

  • Heart Disease

  • Stroke

  • Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

  • Cancer

  • Alzheimer's disease

  • Osteoporosis

  • Chronic Kidney Disease

  • Anemia

  • Hypothyroidism

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

  • Lupus

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • How does the aging wellness assessment compare to my annual physical?
Our aging wellness assessment is far more comprehensive than a typical annual physical. It includes 100+ biomarkers that measure the health of your heart, thyroid, immune system, hormones, brain, metabolism, bones, and skin.
Most physicals are focused on primarily telling you if have any diseases or not. We go well beyond this. you’ll get insights that will help you feel and perform your best today, and prevent diseases in the future.

Finally, every Aging Wellness assessment includes a full hour with a clinician to review your results and make a plan — 3x longer than the national average. A recent study showed that the average time spent with a primary care physician is only 18 minutes. We felt it was crucial to give our patients more time with their clinician so they can walk away with insights that help them improve their health and wellbeing.
I’m interested in GLP-1 prescription, how do I know if I’m eligible?
During your Aging Wellness Assessment, we’ll look at your BMI, metabolic health, hormone levels, and 100+ other biomarkers to determine your eligibility for this program. If your clinician recommends the Modern Age Weight Loss Program, they will determine the right prescription.
Does Modern Age replace my current primary care doctor?
Modern Age now offers primary care services, so we can serve as your primary care provider if you choose. However, we also work alongside your existing doctor to support your overall health goals. Your aging wellness assessment includes access to 100+ biomarkers and insights about your performance that are written just for you. Every set of labs is reviewed and by your clinician and those results are always available to you in your Modern Age account. Lastly, if your clinician finds anything that requires more specialized attention, they will either refer you out or get in contact with your primary care doctor to facilitate better care.
What recommendations can I expect to get in my clinician session?
Your Modern Age clinician will use your results as well as your goals to recommend a set of prescriptions, over-the-counter products, and treatments based on your unique needs. Your recommendations are based on a holistic perspective across how you look and how you feel, both physically and mentally.
  • Treatments: Your recommendations may include selections from our suite of treatments including some of our IV drips to help reduce inflammation, boost energy or improve focus. If you have skin care or hair care concerns, we may include treatments like Botox, microneedling, or a chemical peel.

  • Prescriptions: We also may include a variety of prescriptions to help boost levels of key hormones such as estrogen, testosterone, and thyroid hormone.

  • Over-the-counter products: We offer evidence-backed, highly curated products and supplements for longevity, general health, skin and hair health and hormone balance.

  • Lifestyle guidance: Our physicians also share expert guidance on personalized and practical strategies for diet, exercise, and sleep to complement the products and services that you use

  • We’ll also talk through how to implement these recommendations. Our ultimate goal is for you to walk away with clear steps to help you take control of your aging journey from every angle.
How does ongoing care work after the assessment?
Our Aging Wellness Assessment is a stand alone evaluation. You may decide to continue your care with a annual Optimization Program.
If you choose to pursue ongoing care with a prescription medication (with the exception of skin and hair prescriptions), hormone therapy, and/or weight loss medication, it is required that you join our Optimization Program so we can fully customize and track your progress. I had my aging assessment today, and it was great! We talked through my blood work and different factors that I had noticed in my health over the past 12 months. The doctor was super knowledgeable, and I felt very heard. I purchased the optimization package straight after as I was so pleased with the experience and output.

I really appreciated the consultation from Dr. Moushumi Datta-Thomas, MD. I now have better understanding on possible treatment for my sleep issues and guidance on my diet. I will definitely revisit to get a deeper assessment!

Had a consultation with Kyra this afternoon, and they were wonderful. I was clearly anxious about discussing what I've been experiencing, and they put me at ease and recommended a test to get to the root of my concerns. I've had issues with doctors in the past, but based on my interaction with Kyra this place is definitely a comfortable fit. If you’ve been nervous about taking the first step, look no further than Modern Age!

As part of New Year's goals to reduce meat and dairy intake, I needed a solution for my B12 deficiency. I met with NP Michaela Robbins, she was incredibly patient, kind, and understanding - especially given my disdain for needles. She allowed me to get comfortable - I didn't even feel it. Modern Age also carries a range of high-end products usually only found in a dermatologist's office (EltaMD, Revision, SkinMedica). You can walk right in to purchase.
